Our Winter Recreation Guide is now available online. Winter Basketball and Cheer leading registration will open October 4 at 8 a.m. for League City residents. Looking for a quick reference of what we are offering this Winter? Check out our Winter Quick Guide! The guide list registration dates as well. These guides can be picked up in person or viewed online.

Upcoming Events

Astronomy in the Park

Astronomy in the Park is back starting October 7 at Rustic Oaks Park from 7 to 9:30 p.m. We encourage those attending to bring binoculars if you have them. Astronomy in the Park will run through September 2023 through June 2024 on the first Saturday of each month. This program is run by Daniel Roy.

Harvest Festival

Join us at our annual Harvest Festival on October 14 at League Park and enjoy activities for the entire family! In addition to lots of vendors, there will be face painting, a hayride, crafts, games, and food trucks.

  • 9 am: Vendors open
  • 10 am: Activities begin
  • 11 am: Kids' costume contest (signups begin at 10 am)
  • 12 pm: Pumpkin carving contest (limited to 25 participants/ signups begin at 11:30 am)

Registration for our programs can be done in person or by visiting our online registration site.  The brochure can be viewed online or picked up at Hometown Heroes Park or the Community Center.

Computer Coding Class

We are currently offering Taste of Code Ninjas and Homeschool Coding Classes. Unleash your child's imagination. Create, play and learn at their own pace as they gain skills in coding and problem solving. Learn to code and have a blast while building awesome video games. Get support and encouragement from our instructors. 

Homeschool Coding Classes
Tuesdays, October 3-24. Class time for kids ages 6-7 is 12 to 1 p.m. and ages 8-14 is 1 to 2 p.m. The session fee is $125. Register today!

Taste of Code Ninjas
Mondays, October 2-23 from 6-7 p.m. for kids 6-14 years. The session fee is $125. Register today!

Winter Basketball

The basketball program is open to boys and girls ages 5-14 years old. We use an aging date of September 1, 2023 to determine what age group your child would be in. The registration fee includes the uniform. Registration will open October 4 at 8 a.m. for League City residents and October 18 at 8 a.m. for non-residents.  Practices will be held once a week, Monday-Friday, between 5-9 p.m. Games will be held on Saturdays.

League Season: December 4 to March 3
Cost: Residents: $105 | Non-residents: $157.50


Winter Cheerleading

Learn about being a cheerleader. Participants will learn cheers, chants and jumps, as well as gain some friends and confidence. Participants will cheer for basketball games as well as have new challenges week to week to keep them going. Recreational cheer for all! Practices will be held at the Community Center. Registration will open October 4 at 8 a.m. for League City residents and October 18 at 8 a.m. for non-residents.

Mondays: December 4 – March 4, (no class 12/18, 12/25, 1/1, 1/15)

  • 5U 6:00 PM – 6:45 PM
  • 8U 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • 11U 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Thursdays: December 7 – March 7 (no class 12/21, 12/28, 1/4)

  • 5U 6:00 PM – 6:45 PM
  • 8U 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Cost: Residents – $75.00 | Non-Residents – $112.50

NEW PROGRAM- MEAT WITH STEVE

Master your backyard BBQ skills. Class is open to novices and experts alike. We will conduct a two-day interactive BBQ class where we will learn meat selection, trimming, prep, flavor profiles, and proper doneness. Brisket, pork ribs, and turkey will be the focus. We will also prepare side dishes, appetizers, and dessert. Class will take place at Hometown Heroes Park.

Class Dates: October 20, 6 to 10 p.m. and October 21, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ages: 16 and older
Cost: $125
