League City's Volunteers in Policing help keep the City clean and beautiful by picking up "bandit" signs that violate the City's sign ordinance.
They assist the City's Code Enforcement Department by making sure signs are placed correctly and picked up in a timely manner so that they do not litter roadsides and right-of ways. Each month, volunteers pick up an average of 400 "bandit signs" that are in violation of City ordinance.
Yard signs promoting garage sales, open houses, businesses, etc., are considered bandit signs and cannot be put in the public right-of-way along roadside. They also cannot be put on private property without permission. Garage sale signs can be placed on private property starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday and must be removed the following Monday.
