John Baumgartner was unanimously appointed interim city manager for League City during a special meeting on Dec. 19, 2016.
City Council voted 8-0-0 to approve the appointment for a six-month period beginning Dec. 20, 2016.
“I am humbled by the support that City Council and the community have shown to me throughout this transition,” said Interim City Manager, John Baumgartner. “League City is my home and together we will continue working with the entire community to build upon our successes as we strive to provide world-class customer service.”
Baumgartner unofficially assumed the role of acting city manager on Dec. 13, 2016.
“League City has a bright future and we know that John Baumgartner is the right choice to see us through this period of transition and bridge the gaps,” said Mayor Pat Hallisey. “He is a member of this community, actively involved in issues important to the city and a true public servant.”
The mayor thanked Baumgartner for his service to League City prior to the vote.
“John has the full support of City Council and we know he’ll rise to the challenge in front us,” said Hallisey. “We thank him for serving our community.”
Baumgartner, who has served as the city’s deputy city manager since 2012, plans on keeping things moving within the city.
“It is my priority to ease any community concerns, encourage creative solutions to issues impacting residents and business owners, and strategically move our great city forward with the help and support of our staff – who are the backbone of this organization,” said Baumgartner.
