The mission of the City of League City’s Office of Emergency Management is to promote emergency preparedness and resiliency for city staff, residents, businesses, and community organizations through a comprehensive program that strives to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from any emergency that may impact League City. This is accomplished through a robust training, planning, and exercise program that allows us to maintain the State of Texas’ “Advanced Level of Preparedness.”
During emergency situations—such as tropical storms, hurricanes, and other severe weather events— League City’s Office of Emergency Management works with the City’s Communications Department to provide residents with information posted to the City’s website and social media channels. During an emergency, staff will provide the most up-to-date information on the City’s Facebook and Twitter accounts every few hours. If you are not following these social media sites, we encourage you to do so.
When an emergency arises that requires immediate action from League City residents—such as an evacuation, boil water notice, or shelter-in-place order—the City will issue a SwiftReach notification via text or automated call. In order to receive an emergency notification, you must sign up and provide your information at the SwiftReach registration webpage. SwiftReach alerts are only used during emergency situations that require immediate resident action.
