Calder Road South Reconstruction
GO Bond Funding: $7.7 million Calder Road South Reconstruction Project Sheet (PDF)
Scope of work: Reconstruct 6,000 feet of Calder Road from Ervin Street to Cross Colony Drive to a concrete curb and gutter roadway with one lane in each direction and a center turn lane. The project also includes sidewalks and a 12-inch water main.
Project Status as of December 2021
Council approved construction award on January 14, 2020. All lanes were opened to traffic during Christmas break 2020. Contractor is currently working on restoration of the project site and completing a headwall at the drainage channel. There is also work planned to install a crosswalk at the intersection of Calder and Ervin, starting and extending designs currently in review/negotiation. This might result in extending the timeline into 2022.
The original schedule, as of September 2019, shows the design phase of Calder Road South from Ervin to Cross Colony complete in quarter 2 of 2019. Relocation of utilities in progress in quarter 3 of 2019. Construction bidding is scheduled for quarters 3 of 2019 with construction following in quarter 1 of 2020. Construction is programmed from quarter 1 of 2020 through quarter 1 of 2021. Construction time is an estimate as each bid is awarded based on cost and time submitted by the contractor.

Relocation of utilities were completed in quarter 3 of 2019, and construction bidding was completed in quarter 4 of 2019. Construction began in quarter 1 of 2020 and was completed in quarter 4 of 2020. New design for crosswalk results in design beginning again in quarter 1 of 2021 and progressing through quarter 1 of 2022.
