Garbage & Recycling

Normal curbside recycling services resumed on October 25, following a temporary pause after a fire damaged the Material Recycling Facility that services League City.

City facilities will have amended hours and closures in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

There will be NO trash service on Christmas Day (Monday, December 25) or New Year's Day (Monday, January 1). If you have Monday trash service, your trash will be picked up on your next scheduled day.

AmeriWaste League City, Inc. is the primary trash provider for League City’s 34,000 plus residential and commercial customers. To make trash pickup more efficient, the City has three trash zones. Use the map below to check your trash and recycling pickup days by address. Residents are asked to use a trash receptacle of 55 gallons or less, as per the City's agreement with AmeriWaste. Residents are provided with a 48-gallon closed-top, wheeled cart for recycling.

New Trash Services:  As of May 1, 2023,  League City will enter into a new contract with AmeriWaste. As part of this contract, new services will be added and the garbage rates for residential customers will increase from $19.66/month to $20.84 /month, including fees and sales tax.

Trash Pickup Timeframe

You have a trash day, not a trash time. Trash pickup will be anywhere between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on pickup days. Customers are asked to have their trash cans placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on their designated days, but no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before.

NOTE: Items placed at the curb for donation (i.e. Purple Heart, etc.) may be inadvertently picked up as trash if placed alongside trash/recycling.

If your pick-up falls on a holiday, your garbage will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled day for your neighborhood. Garbage will not be picked up on the following holidays:
