Garbage Management & Recycling

*Memorial Day*

Residential and commercia trash routes will run at their regularly scheduled times.

Trash rate increase

As part of the City’s contract with its trash service provider, AmeriWaste, there is a yearly increase to garbage rates based on the Consumer Price Index and Fuel costs for the previous year. Beginning May 1, 2020, the garbage rates will increase in accordance to the contract.  The new cost for residents will be $18.26 per month, which is an increase of $0.35.The rate change maintains current services for customers with trash pickup twice a week and recycling pickup once a week.

COVID -19 IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as of March 30, all  trash and recyclables MUST be bagged before they are placed in a bin or they will not be picked up. This will ensure workers are protected from direct contact from trash and waste during the collection process. Clear bags are preferred for recycling, but regular trash bags will be accepted. No loose items in bins will be picked up.

These new guidelines were passed by League City Council members at their March 24 meeting as an addition to the City’s emergency declaration. All residents are expected to comply by Monday, March 30. For questions or concerns, contact the City’s Solid Waste Coordinator Ann Williams at 281 554-1411.
