Connor Colorado

man holding a globe

Connor Colorado originally took a position as a pool manager with the City of League City thinking it was just for the summer. Three years later, his passion for providing great customer has led to a year-round position with the City. Between getting his master’s degree in accounting, cruising around the world, and working the front desk at Hometown Heroes Park, Connor says he loves to keep busy.

How long have you worked for League City Parks and Recreation?

Three years. I started as a seasonal employee during the summer as a pool manager and now I work full time at Hometown Heroes Park. Even though I graduated from Clear Springs High School, I didn’t even know Hometown Heroes Park existed until a friend told me about a job opening there. During high school, I worked as a lifeguard at the YMCA and at various HOA community pools, so it seemed like a good fit for me to work for League City during my summer break from college. I ended up liking it so much that I took a part-time position working year-round at the front desk at Hometown Heroes Park.

What do like about working for League City?

I absolutely love the people I work with. We are very close, and we hang out even when we aren’t at work. During the last three years, I have learned so much about the importance of customer service. That’s not to say it wasn’t important at my other jobs, but the standard and expectation is so much higher at the City. My colleagues at Hometown Heroes, and all League City employees, really go out of their way to provide the best customer service they can for our citizens. And we really believe in what we’re doing. We genuinely love helping people and I think that shows in our day to day work.

You mentioned you are in college, what are you studying?

I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Houston, and this summer I am finishing up my master’s degree at the main Houston campus. Then I am going to go for a Ph.D. I ultimately would like to work for a big accounting firm.

When you are not working or at school, what do you like to do?

I love traveling, particularly going on cruises. I have been on two Alaskan cruises, a Caribbean cruise, and my next will be to the Mediterranean.

What is your favorite food?

I love Tex-Mex. There are so many good places in League City, but I really like Jimmy Changas.

What is your favorite thing about League City?

We have wonderful parks. My favorite is Rustic Oaks. I have played tennis there since I was 10.

Describe League City in three to four words:
